I too have become disillusioned by our nation’s politics, moreover by our current administration; and I use the word administration loosely, as regime is a more descriptive word. As a teen I never really paid much attention to the world of politics, I was too busy being a rebellious teen, with little care for anything, especially for myself. As I grew into manhood and learned the errors of my ways through series of “School of Hard Knocks” lessons the world of politics, yet, still, seemingly far removed from anything close to me or my understanding, became more and more a thing of interest and study for me.

I wasn’t around for the era of the Kennedy’s yet, when hearing and seeing the old clips of John F. Kennedy I saw in him a truth and power that I had never seen before. The past news and videos of the events surrounding his tragic murder and the tremendous wake of grief that followed and enveloped the world felt as though it were also mine. I felt the pain and collapse of hope in my own bosom. But more then the pain I felt… was the overwhelming feeling of deceit and treachery surrounding this terrible event. I’m no specialist in… well, anything… but believe I’m a person of practicality and common sense and could easily deduce this was not an event that could be blamed on a single person.

I’m now 44 years old and, in about the past 15 years, have read and studied a lot about the mechanics of our political processes, our Nation’s Constitution, the intends of and the strugglings of the Founding Fathers of this great Nation and, with all of this, the undeniable realization of just how far our current political leaders have strayed from our original purpose an composition as a Nation. We no longer represent that great dream of a sovereign Nation with it’s concerns turned inward towards it’s self, with it’s citizens interests and well being in mind. We have become the very thing so many people fought and died against. We have become the empire, the oppressor of peoples and nations abroad.

Along with my studies I have discovered, as well, that to place blame solely upon our current politics and or government is unjust and flat out wrong; for the blame lies in many places and upon many people… mostly upon ourselves as citizens of a once great nation, whose sole responsibility was to keep their own government in check.

Alas, sad to say, greed, envy and a desire for power are forces in this world which have always existed from the dawn of man. They have inevitably led to destructive paths as well as the destruction of people, nations and economic systems. We seem, as peoples of the world, to fail to learn from the past. How easily we forget what worked and what did not. How easily we forget, or choose to ignore, the fact that when wealth and power meet, or are condensed into the hands of a few, great dangers are present.

As for the two political parties, Democrat or Republican, though they can often sound different, they have in fact become basically the same thing. They support the same, behind the scenes, powers that seek powers of control. It’s not to say that all who seek, or have obtained, careers in our political system are bad and corrupt, for many seek to right the wrongs and, at no costs, can be bought out or persuaded by financial or power driven forces. Your reference to Ron Paul, for example, I believe to be one of these who truly seeks the welfare and well being of this nation and it’s people. He most certainly has my support in all of his efforts. Yet, I fear, there are too few like him in position of influence and authority to make the necessary changes we need to bring our Nation back to it’s intended course. Ron Paul, like John F. Kennedy, tread dangerous waters with courage and brave hearts in the face of corrupt and powerful forces of evil; may a guiding angel walk with Ron Paul and protect him from harm.

What ever the outcome of the 2008 elections may be, one thing is certain… the People of this Nation must awaken to their duties as Citizens. We are the People! It is our responsibility, our duty and our Right to keep our path straight! To keep our Nation on course! To uphold the Law of the Land, our Nation’s Constitution! It, our Constitution, should be something that everyone studies on a regular basis. As is the past of, not only this Nation, but of all nations, peoples and governments… that we never forget the lessons learned from the past.
